As Governments all over the world transition to low-carbon, climate-resilient Infrastructure, estimates show that about 70% of the increase in future greenhouse gas emissions will come from infrastructure that is yet to be built. In order to deliver on SDG 9 and develop quality, reliable, sustainable, and resilient infrastructure to both support economic development and human well-being, with a focus on affordable and equitable access for all, an emphasis on sustainable delivery is critical. According to the World Bank, Public-private partnerships (PPPs) can be a tool to get more quality infrastructure services to more people. When designed well and implemented in a balanced regulatory environment, PPPs can bring greater efficiency and sustainability to the provision of public services such as energy, transport, telecommunications, water, healthcare, and education. PPPs can also allow for better allocation of risk between public and private entities.
